Questions and Answers w/ Static the Snyper
( interview given by senior editor of rap blayz magazine.....sarah johnson )
Sarah: Now you have an upcoming album;what is it called?
Static:The album is called,"Personal Vendettaz," and it's off the chains.
Sarah: What happened with Fearless?
Static: Well, Sarah;when you mix envy with empathy, you come up with bu**$h*t! And that's exactly what that situation was.I mean, the producer was lieing in public, sayin that the reason the label fell apart was financial reasons.Bu**$h*t!!!How was that, when we was pushin like 300 copies a week locally? He dropped 2 solo LP's after we left, and the compilation we were on, sold more copies than both of his solo LP's combined! I ain't see no money, so where did it go?Cheezy ain't seen a dime of the money we made off that compilation in 98, so again; where did the money go?He spent it!The Agent wasn't into lettin' a mutha f*cka have artistic freedom,he wanted some off-the-wall star wars type sh*t!And we wasn't down fo' that,ya dig?He ain't like the fact that we thought some of the sh*t he was makin' was ''weak,'' and he was mad that my nigga Fly-G (Now the C.E.O.of smalltime records) was makin' better tracks than him. He was jealous! He was petrified we'd sell out, and go "Benedict Arnold," when he was the one who infact did that. Me and Cheezy did like 30 somethin tracks at that studio, and only a compilation came out of that?Fly-G and Barberman(The Young Souls) made like 7. The Dalinkwent (Now known as Armor) had a whole album and some, and nothin' came out. He never hollared. And most of all, WE DIDN'T GET PAID! NO ADVANCES OR NO PETTY CHUMP CHANGE.....JUST A COLD SHOULDER. So to me, there is no Fearless. They can't get no love from Mosthated or SmallTime Records either. And it don't stop there. He made too many sheisty moves, and he'll understand that when he can no longer make his gay ass records in "Nap". He's FAKE! First, he , wanted to be hard. Then, he wanted to be a minister. Now, he wanna be a hoe chaser. That's a hypocrit! And what type of Agent goes bankrupt?
Sarah: Do you still talk to any of the Fearless artist?
Static: I don't know any of the Fearless artist now. I only associate with those not on that label, Like Fly-G,Barberman,Armor, and S.O.G. Any artist that are on the label need to wise up, and take heed. I'm free as a bird right now, and I'm about to make things happen!
Sarah: Now, what's Personal Vendettaz?
Static: A Personal Vendetta, is a type of grudge that you hold on someone, or some people for personal reasons.
Sarah: When did you first start rapping?
Static: I was five when I first started rapping. Been in it since.
Sarah: who did you listen to back then?
Static: people like AL B. SURE,RUN-DMC,LL,N.W.A.,BIG DADDY KANE....u know, that old-school raw hip hop,r&b, and gangsta rap.
Sarah: Who do you listen to now?
Static: 2PAC and BIGGIE, most definitely.THATS 2 OF THA RAWEST MC'S OF ALL TIME.
BROTHA LYNCH,E40,SNOOP,CUBE,JARULE,DMX,EMINEM,MISSY,MARY J,LL. All types of cd's, ya know? Tracks from my album.I'll make a track, and bump it in the ride the same day.
Sarah: What made you start MOSTHATED RECORDS?
Static: Me and Cheezy always wanted to get our own label started, but we was on contract with Fearless. After we broke apart from that label, we decided to start the label. Took us 3 months to get the name. Me and Armor was thinkin' of words that best described us, and I was like...."F*ck it...We Mosthated," "We ran it back with Cheezy, He liked it; and we rolled with it."
Sarah: What's new for MOSTHATED?
Static:We have The Young Thugz album droppin' soon. We're workin on the MostHated Records Compilation, and I'm workin' on my album. We'll see what happens. We got a lot. Just stay tuned....and cop them albums!
Sarah: Now, you started out rapping with Controversy in 1997,then helped create 18.5 in 1998.Now you have theYoung Thugz.....How have you managed to display your loyalty to each "clique?"
Static: Don't be confused Sarah, there some jealous ass n*ggaz, but my till n *ggaz knew I wasn't goin nowhere.I'm on some bigger shit.Tryna expand the fam.Every click within "Tha Crime Unit " is family.18.5, is the street hustlaz, and me and cheezy hold down the rap shit on the 18.5 side.Controversy, are lyrical geniuses. They represent 1/3 of me.1/3 of that thug shit u hear from me is part Controversy. Those two clicks are the backfield henchmen in my Crime Unit Fam.I unleash them on the haters when I need somethin handled, and believe u me,they cut throats when let loose....Controversy and 18.5.The Young Thugz is my click. My entorage.Them mutha fuckas are me...love it or not,we all bout 2 rattle the rap game.If I'm at a club or party, they ain't far from me.The Young Thugz are the lyrical genuises, and street hustlaz, and they get down like me,that's why we click deep. That completes the Crime Unit. The Young Thugz,18.5,and Controversy will all grow.I gotta be the heart of the "Unit," and even after I'm gone.....It will still pump life and grow.We all moneymakers, hustlaz, thugz, and dealers with knowledge, and we learn from each other.
Sarah: How did it feel making the GHETTO MONOPOLY compilation with D-BOY, and BLACKLOTUS RECORDS?
Static: We all we're in the studio for like a week. Basically livin' in it. We'd take turns makin' beats. It wasn't like work, cause we played 60 percent of the time; but we got things done also. I had artistic freedom on a few songs, and it was more of a family vibe. No jealousy.... no haters, ya know? And you should cop that album too if you want to hear a little of what will be on my LP. That GHETTO MONOPOLY song I did (which was liked so much by D-BOY that he named the compilation after it) will be on my album. It knocks, and it's all around perfect, cause I'm spittin' game of how the rap game is like the dope game.My experiences in the streets, and how it personifies the game from the eyes of a hustler. It's every hustler's anthem.
sarah: What's a HOODRAT?
static: A HOODRAT, is a chick that will do whatever for the cheese. She might not care too much about you(might play you), but she'll be down for you when it comes to gettin' that cheddar, and that's all that matters. You need one of them on ya roster, if not a few.
sarah: Have you dated any HOODRATS?
static: (Laughing)Yeah. Sarah, I ain't even gonna get into all that. I ain't mentioning no names, but I've had my share ya feel me?
sarah: Do you plan to make any movies?
static: Yeah, we got an independent film I'm a drop called, "Block Burnin'."
sarah: What's up with a music video?
static: I plan on makin' a video for HOODRAT and GHETTO MONOPOLY. We have a little footage for the Hoodrat video; we're shootin' that one with no press attention. Kinda incognito ya dig? But we'll post up the dates that we'll be shooting the GHETTO MONOPOLY video.
sarah: Who would you do a song with that's deceased if you could?
static: I'd make one song with me,pac, biggie, big ed, big L,and freaky tah. I'd have Aaliyah and marvin gaye on the chorus, and Jimmi Hendrix would end it with some good ole guitar riffs.
sarah: Sounds nice.
sarah: So,when can we expect your album?
static: 2002. You'll see fliars, and I'll keep you up on that.
